Authorship Criteria
COMSEP: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat expects authorship to reflect the actual contributions of individuals involved in community service activities and the preparation of the manuscript. The journal encourages transparency, fairness, and accountability in determining authorship.
1. Eligibility for Authorship
Individuals may be listed as authors when they have made meaningful contributions to the community service program and/or the intellectual development of the manuscript. Such contributions may include:
-
Developing the concept, objectives, or design of the community service program.
-
Participating substantially in program implementation, data collection, monitoring, or evaluation.
-
Analyzing or interpreting the results and outcomes of the activities.
-
Drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
-
Reviewing and approving the final version of the manuscript and accepting responsibility for their contributions.
All listed authors should approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission to COMSEP.
2. Author Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for ensuring that the information presented in the manuscript is accurate and that their contributions are properly represented. The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the editorial team and for confirming that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript.
3. Authorship Order
The order of authors should be agreed upon by all authors and should reasonably reflect their contributions. Authors are encouraged to discuss authorship arrangements before submission to avoid misunderstandings.
4. Contributions Not Sufficient for Authorship
Providing funding, holding an academic or institutional position, offering routine administrative assistance, or providing general support does not automatically qualify an individual for authorship. Individuals who have contributed to the activities but do not meet the authorship criteria may be acknowledged appropriately, with their consent.
5. Changes in Authorship
Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission should be communicated to the editorial team, accompanied by an explanation and agreement from the authors concerned. The editorial team will consider such requests fairly and may request additional clarification where necessary.
This policy is informed by the principles of transparency and responsible authorship promoted by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
