Correction and Retraction

Correction and Retraction Policy

COMSEP: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of its published articles. The journal recognizes that errors or concerns may occasionally arise after publication and will consider appropriate actions to ensure the reliability of the scholarly record.

Corrections

A correction may be considered when an error or omission is identified in a published article and the issue can be addressed without undermining the main findings or overall contribution of the work. Such errors may include incorrect author information, affiliations, typographical errors, inaccurate tables or figures, or other information that requires clarification.

Authors who identify errors in their published articles are encouraged to contact the editorial team. Readers and other interested parties may also report potential errors for editorial consideration.

The editorial team will review the information provided and determine whether a correction is appropriate. When necessary, the authors may be contacted for clarification. Published corrections will be linked to the original article whenever possible.

Retractions

Retraction may be considered when serious problems affect the reliability, originality, or ethical integrity of a published article. These may include substantial data fabrication or falsification, serious plagiarism, duplicate publication, unethical practices, or significant errors that make the reported results or conclusions unreliable.

For community service articles, concerns may also relate to the misrepresentation of activities conducted, participant information, supporting documentation, or reported program outcomes.

The editorial team will assess the available information and may seek clarification from the authors or consult relevant experts when appropriate. A retraction decision will be based on the nature and seriousness of the concern and the available evidence.

When an article is retracted, the journal will publish an appropriate notice explaining the reason for the retraction and link it to the original article. The retracted article will remain identifiable in the publication record so that readers can understand its status.

Withdrawal Before Publication

Authors who wish to withdraw a manuscript before publication should contact the editorial team and provide the reason for their request. The journal will consider the request in accordance with the manuscript's editorial status and applicable publication procedures.

Withdrawal before publication is distinct from retraction, which concerns an article that has already been published.

Reporting Errors and Concerns

Authors, readers, reviewers, and other interested parties may report errors or concerns regarding published articles through the COMSEP editorial office using the contact information available on the journal website.

Reports should identify the relevant article and explain the issue clearly. Supporting information may be provided where available. The editorial team will consider each report fairly and determine an appropriate response.

Guiding Principles

COMSEP handles corrections, withdrawals, and retractions with fairness, transparency, and due consideration of the circumstances. Honest errors will be distinguished from misconduct, and authors will generally be given an opportunity to respond to concerns before a decision is made.

The journal follows the relevant principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) when considering corrections and retractions. The primary purpose of these actions is to maintain the accuracy and credibility of the scholarly record.
