Pemberdayaan Masyarakat dalam Pencegahan dan Penanganan Awal Keracunan Pestisida di Desa Sari Galuh
Abstract
Improper pesticide use poses significant health risks, particularly for farmers and rural communities who are directly exposed to these chemicals. The aim of this community service activity was to improve community knowledge and skills related to safe pesticide use and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The program was conducted on 30 September 2025 in Sari Galuh Village, Tapung District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The methods included educational sessions, interactive discussions, and simulations on correct PPE use during pesticide handling and application. Knowledge evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test assessments to measure changes before and after the intervention. A total of 54 participants, consisting of farmer groups, health cadres, and youth organization members, took part in the activity. Of these, 34 participants completed both pre-test and post-test questionnaires and were included in the analysis. The evaluation results showed an increase in knowledge scores following the intervention, indicating that the educational activities were effective in strengthening community capacity to prevent health risks associated with pesticide exposure. Similar programs are recommended to be implemented sustainably and expanded to other rural areas as part of efforts to mitigate pesticide-related health risks at the community level.
