Plagiarism Policy
Journal of Asian Auditing and Finance (JAAF) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring the originality of submitted manuscripts. As part of this commitment, all submitted manuscripts undergo a Similarity Check before entering the peer-review process. The journal uses Turnitin to detect duplication and improper attribution in submitted manuscripts.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism occurs when an author attempts to present another person’s work as their own. Self-plagiarism (duplicate publication) happens when an author republishes substantial parts of their previously published work without proper citation. This includes:
- Identical publication in multiple journals.
- Salami-slicing, where only minor modifications or small amounts of new data are added to a previously published study.
Plagiarism Prior to Publication
JAAF evaluates plagiarism cases on a case-by-case basis. If plagiarism is detected at any stage—before or after acceptance—the editorial team will notify the author(s) and request necessary revisions. If plagiarism exceeds 30%, the manuscript may be rejected, and the author(s) will be informed.
Plagiarism Check Process
All submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism upon submission and before the peer-review process begins.
Plagiarism Handling Policy
Manuscripts with detected plagiarism are processed as follows:
- ?5% Plagiarism: The manuscript is assigned an ID and sent to the author for minor content revision.
- 5-30% Plagiarism: The manuscript is returned to the author for revision before resubmission.
- >30% Plagiarism: The manuscript is rejected without review. Authors are advised to revise and submit it as a new manuscript.
Why Manuscripts with >35% Plagiarism Are Rejected
If plagiarism exceeds 35%, it is unlikely that the necessary revisions will be sufficient. However, authors are welcome to submit a revised version as a new submission.
Originality Statement
By submitting a manuscript to JAAF, authors confirm that:
- The manuscript is original and unpublished.
- It is not under consideration elsewhere.
- Any form of plagiarism, including duplicate publication, is strictly prohibited.
Manuscripts submitted to JAAF may be checked for originality using anti-plagiarism software to uphold academic integrity. Plagiarism, in any form, is a violation of copyright law and is not tolerated.
