Abstract

Speech delay refers to the delay in the development of speech skills, which is related to brain function, oral motor skills, tongue and other factors. This language delay is also associated with sensory, motor, and sensorimotor delays. The purpose of this initiative is to address and alleviate the symptoms of speech delay in preschool children. The activities are carried out through lectures and practical exercises to overcome language barriers, such as singing songs, repeating words, using gestures corresponding to the words spoken and using tools such as "Badukasi" balloons. Participants at the event included 20 mothers and preschoolers with speech delays. Results from this outreach show that parents have a better understanding of how to manage language delays and that preschoolers demonstrate better pronunciation of words during this activity
