Pemanfaatan Limbah Sekam Padi Dalam pembuatan Arang Sekam di Hujungan Desa Situgede

Abstract

Husk is a form of agricultural waste. The use of husk waste to reduce the environmental impact produced by rice is still very low. The low utilization of husk waste is due to the low level of knowledge and skills of the community regarding processing this waste. One form of good husk waste management is making husk charcoal which has sales value and is beneficial for farming land. There is a need for activities that are focused on providing knowledge about the use of rice husk charcoal, how to convert rice husk waste into husk charcoal which has sales value and is expected to provide additional income for farmers in the Sido Makmur Pekon Bulurejo farming group, Gadingrejo District, Pringsewu Regency, Lampung Province. Activities are carried out by socializing the benefits and methods of making husk charcoal to farmers. Farmers were given examples of simple tools for the process of burning rice husks into charcoal. Farmers were given the opportunity to practice directly processing husks into charcoal. Through various outreach and training activities that have been carried out, there has been an increase in farmers' knowledge and skills regarding the use of rice husk waste into husk charcoal which has sales value and can provide more benefits to the farming business carried out. The increase that occurred was >50 percent of the farmers' initial knowledge and skills.
